In the British Isles bamboos do not suffer from
serious pests or diseases. Whitefly may infest certain species during
very dry summers or mild, dry winters. Rabbits and squirrels
occasionally nibble new shoots, but find older material unpalatable.
Bamboos seem to be very resistant to honey fungus (Armillaria mellea).
