The cultivation of bamboo in
containers is very rewarding. Just imagine a terracotta pot in the corner
of a courtyard. Few plants can add as much structure and atmosphere than a
graceful fountain of bamboo. An article written by Jon Ardle and published
in the September 1997 issue of The Garden, the Journal of the Royal
Horticultural Society, provides an excellent and comprehensive guide to
this subject. The RHS have kindly allowed the text of the article to be
reproduced on this web site. Their assistance and encouragement is most
appreciated. Illustrations and photographs added to the article are from
other sources.
